  • A book co-authored by Professor of Kinesiology Rita Liberti won the North American Society for Sport History best anthology award.  The book — titled "San Francisco Bay Area Sports: Golden Gate Athletics, Recreation, and Community" (University of Arkansas Press, 2017) — is an anthology that clarifies how sport is connected to identities based on sexuality, gender, race and ethnicity.
  • Professor Yan Yan Ange Zhou’s joint work on sustainability in drug manufacturing was featured on the cover of Green Chemistry magazine.
  • Biology Professor Michael Hedrick was inducted as a Fellow of the American Physiological Society. The rank of Fellow is reserved to honor distinguished leaders who have demonstrated excellence in science, have made a significant contribution to the physiological sciences, and served the society.
  • Lonny Brooks, an assistant professor of communication, was interviewed by  about they way two new movies are portraying the city of Oakland.
